Why I’m Giving Away Free Websites (And How It Actually Makes You More Money)

Most small businesses don’t have a marketing problem, they have a starting problem. Either they don’t have a website at all, or they’ve got something thrown together years ago that doesn’t rank, doesn’t convert, and doesn’t bring in jobs. Then they’re told they need SEO, Google Ads, email marketing, pipelines, tracking and everything else on top. Before they’ve even properly started, they’re overwhelmed and already thinking about cost, so they do nothing. That’s the real issue I see time and time again, and it’s exactly why I’d rather remove that barrier completely.

That’s why I offer a free website. No upfront cost, no big commitment just to “get going”, and no sitting on the sidelines while competitors pick up the work. The aim is simple, give you something clean, straightforward and built properly from day one. Not overdesigned, not full of fluff, just a website that’s ready to do its job, which is to turn visitors into actual enquiries. Because the truth is, a website on its own doesn’t make you money. It’s what you do with it afterwards that matters, and without a solid base, everything else becomes harder than it needs to be.

Once that foundation is in place, the next steps become clear depending on what you need. If you want leads quickly, Google Ads is the fastest route. You can be live within days and start generating enquiries almost immediately. It’s not magic, you are paying for that visibility, but when it’s done properly and backed by a website that actually converts, it works. For businesses that need work coming in now, it’s often the best place to start.

If you’re thinking longer term, SEO is where things really start to build. Done properly, it compounds over time. Service pages, location pages and content that targets what people are actually searching for all work together to turn your website into something that brings in consistent work without relying on ad spend forever. It’s not instant, but it creates stability, and that’s what most businesses are actually aiming for whether they realise it or not.

Then there’s the part most businesses overlook, which is follow-up. Leads come in and don’t get chased properly, old customers sit there doing nothing, reviews never get asked for, and repeat work is missed. That’s where a simple follow-up system makes a real difference. It doesn’t need to be complicated, it just needs to make sure enquiries are responded to, customers are engaged, and opportunities aren’t left on the table. That alone can increase the value of the work you’re already getting.

When all of this comes together, that’s when things really start to click. The website gives you somewhere to send people, ads bring in immediate traffic, SEO builds long-term growth, and follow-up turns those enquiries into actual revenue. That’s the full picture, but it doesn’t mean you need to do everything at once.

Some businesses will start with just the free website and build from there. Others will go straight into ads to get cash coming in, and some will focus on SEO and play the longer game. For those on tighter budgets, we simply map out a plan that builds over time, so each step supports the next and makes the following phase more affordable and effective. The important thing is that there’s a clear path forward, rather than guessing or jumping between things that don’t connect.

From my side, the reason for offering a free website is straightforward. I’m not interested in one-off builds that go nowhere. I’d rather help businesses grow over time, because that’s where the real results come from. If your business improves and you start seeing more opportunities, you’ll naturally want to push further with SEO, ads or follow-up systems. Instead of charging upfront and hoping for the best, this approach allows me to give you a proper starting point and then build from there based on real progress.

At the end of the day, the goal isn’t just to give you a website. It’s to help you get more jobs, create consistency, and build something that grows instead of relying on luck. The free website simply removes the friction at the start, so you can focus on what actually matters, getting results and moving your business forward.
